Feds charge HAMC and RDMC members in North Carolina

Raleigh, North Carolina, USA (October 17, 2024) - A federal indictment in the Eastern District of North Carolina has charged 16 motorcycle club members for engaging in violent criminal activity around Raleigh and Fayetteville. Several members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and the Red Devils Motorcycle Club were at the center of a criminal investigation known as Operation Broken Halo that began in January 2023.

The indictment alleges that all 16 defendants are members or associates of the HAMC, a violent outlaw motorcycle group alleged to use violence, threats, and intimidation to carry out its perceived mission and enforce its rules. During a Wednesday press conference, US Attorney Michael Easley outlined the charges and said that while the vast majority of motorcycle clubs are composed of law-abiding citizens, a fraction partake in illegal activity.

Five defendants charged with one count of Murder in Aid of Racketeering face a mandatory life sentence upon conviction. Other defendants face anywhere from three to 30 years in prison. A full list of the defendants can be found on the Justice Department’s press release link below. Officials warned that criminal enterprises engaging in violence “better keep on riding” through North Carolina or the Department of Justice will be “riding you in pursuit of cases.”

Investigation of Red Devils MC members continues

Raleigh, North Carolina, USA (January 18, 2024) - The police department investigating the January 2023 death of Jonas Padilla, a member of the Pagans Motorcycle Club, are reviewing video and audio captured from cameras at the intersections of Creedmoor, Lynn and Millbrook roads. According to search warrants linked to the case, video shows Padilla being chased by five people on motorcycles and falling down an embankment into a yard.

A short time later, two people wearing motorcycle helmets walk down the hill and remove Padilla's club vest. All five people then flee on their motorcycles. The cameras show five motorcycles, one of them with female passenger, as they travel north on Creedmoor Road, make a U-turn at Lynn Road and travel back south. As the riders travel through the intersection of Creedmoor and Millbrook roads, the Padilla, on his bike, turns right onto Creedmoor Road from Millbrook Road.

The five male Red Devils MC members are visible in the video wearing the vests that identify them as members that club, according to the warrants. They dined at Bada Wings on Creedmoor Road immediately before the crimes were committed and video from the restaurant shows them using cell phones there. Police asked to search those phones as part of the investigation.

The warrant says cameras show the group stop on Creedmoor Road, and the woman gets off the bike she's riding and walks to the Walgreens parking lot nearby. The Red Devils riders then cross over the median to again travel north on Creedmoor Road in pursuit of Padilla.

Hells Angels growth in Ottawa and Gatineau concerns cops

The Red Devils MC has three branches in the Ottawa-Gatineau Region, according to police

Recruitment up for biker clubs affiliated with the Hells Angels in the national capital region

OTTAWA, CANADA (March 7, 2016) — The Hells Angels MC is expanding its presence in the National capital region with the help of the Red Devils MC.

According to police, the Red Devils now have three branches here — one in Ottawa and two in Gatineau — and members are actively recruiting throughout the region, drafting newcomers from local biker club Dark Souls Outaouais.

Sgt. Len Isnor of the Biker Enforcement Unit

The Red Devils MC wear a jacket with the name Ottawa, but there are three sections," said Ontario Provincial Police Detective Sergeant Len Isnor, who works in the control unit against biker clubs.

The Ottawa North and Ottawa East sections of the Red Devils are based in Gatineau, and the third section is based in Ottawa itself, according to Isnor. Most of the clubs's Ontario members live in the Cornwall area.

Police say that in its role as a sort of "farm team" for Hells Angels, the Red Devils do the dirty work in the region — dealing drugs, prostitution, and extortion — funneling money up to the Angels.

"It's the motive of every Red Devils member to become a member of the Hells Angels," said Isnor.

In Quebec, the Hells Angels were effectively pushed out of the province in 2009, when police enacted a stunning sweep of the organization, arresting 156 people, including 111 full patch members.

Ever since those raids disrupted operations, the Angels' leaders and members have become far more cautious, according to Sylvain Tremblay, a former investigator with Sûreté du Québec and expert on organized crime.
